ABOUT ME

My name is Mara Kuvika and in 2016 I graduated Fashion Design (BA Honour) course at the Limerick School of Art and Design, Limerick Institute of Technology, Limerick, Ireland.

During my college studies I have developed particular interest in pattern making and garment construction. Also I enjoy creating textural detailing and surface embellishments (hand embroidery, crochet, knit, felting etc.). Hand embroidery detailing was also incorporated in my Graduate Collection 'Wanderlust'.

During my studies I have been a successful competitor in different exhibits. In April 2014 I took part in a collaborative knit project with Internationally renowned yarn spinning company Schoeller Sussen, Germany.  I designed, produced a garment and created hand knit pattern instructions for one of four chosen hand knitted garments which were then shown at the International trade show Handerbeit in Cologne, Germany.

In May 2014, in response to the ''Soldiers and Chiefs'' exhibition at the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks, I designed and produced one of twelve looks, chosen to be exhibited in Collins Barracks, Dublin. The garments were then re-exhibited in the Hunt Museum, Limerick, Ireland.

In 2016 March I was one of finalists of Golden Egg Innovation Awards for young fashion designers in Galway, Ireland. Also my work was chosen to be exhibited at The Graduate Fashion Week in London.
